FERPA includes provisions that reflect the way CareerTrek operates in K-12 institutions. First, portions of all student portfolios at a school are accessible to the CIS Coordinator for the institution and to designees of the CIS Coordinator. However, under FERPA, the Coordinator and/or the designees must have a "legitimate interest" to look at material in a student's portfolio.

Through the course of providing its Service to a school, intoCareers may have access to personally identifiable information about students ("Student Data") that is provided by the school, by the parent or guardian, or by the Student. intoCareers has access to Student Data only as requested by the School and only for the purposes of performing Services on the school's behalf. The type of Student Data we collect will depend on how the school uses the Service. The school provides each student with login credentials and confirms that it has obtained appropriate parental consents, as needed, before the student is permitted to access the Service.
