PRIVACY AND SECURITY
Privacy and security are among the highest priorities for intoCareers and our applications. We work diligently to maintain student and administrator privacy and treat all sensitive data and personal information with the highest industry standards. This Privacy & Security Statement outlines the specific steps that are taken to assure that student and faculty/staff data are treated carefully and appropriately.
FERPA & COPPA
We respect our users' privacy. intoCareers adheres to guidelines created by the Children's On-Line Privacy Protection Act of 1998 and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1996. Except as stated herein, or as otherwise required by law, personally identifiable information is not disclosed to any other group or agency for any purpose, nor, except as necessary to correct system problems, is individual information looked at by staff. This policy is in accordance with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA"), and outlines our practices regarding children’s personal information.
FERPA includes provisions that reflect the way CareerTrek operates in K-12 institutions. First, portions of all student portfolios at a school are accessible to the CIS Coordinator for the institution and to designees of the CIS Coordinator. However, under FERPA, the Coordinator and/or the designees must have a "legitimate interest" to look at material in a student's portfolio.
Through the course of providing its Service to a school, intoCareers may have access to personally identifiable information about students ("Student Data") that is provided by the school, by the parent or guardian, or by the Student. intoCareers has access to Student Data only as requested by the School and only for the purposes of performing Services on the school's behalf. The type of Student Data we collect will depend on how the school uses the Service. The school provides each student with login credentials and confirms that it has obtained appropriate parental consents, as needed, before the student is permitted to access the Service.
